2 brothers nabbed in Naga checkpoint charged

CASES have been filed against the two motorcycle-riding men who were arrested by police during a brief chase after avoiding a checkpoint in Barangay South Poblacion, Naga City, southern Cebu on Wednesday at 9:45 p.m., July 20, 2022.

William Cabigas Lapasaran, 42, of Barangay Zaragosa, Aloguinsan town, midwest Cebu, and his brother Roel, 36, will face charges for illegal possession of firearms, disobedience and violating traffic laws.

Lieutenant Colonel Junnel Caadlawon, chief of Naga Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that they filed the cases against the siblings on Friday afternoon, July 22, 2022.

Caadlawon said that William, driver of Yamaha Mio i125 scooter, along with his brother as backrider, were on their way to Cebu City from Aloguinsan when they retreated upon seeing the checkpoint.

The Lapasaran siblings were finally arrested during a chase that reached San Fernando town.

Seized from them were a 380 pistol with six live bullets, .45 pistol and their motorcycle. (GPL, TPT)
