Climaco faces Davis in LFA

FILIPINO-AMERICAN flyweight prospect Mark Climaco looks to bounce back from his first career defeat as he takes on undefeated Cody Davis in Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) 137 on July 29, 2022 at the Commerce Casino and Hotel in Commerce, California.

Climaco, who has Cebuano roots, suffered his first career defeat last year after getting stopped by Japanese Yuma Horiuchi in the first round. The 24-year-old American Kickboxing Academy stalwart had a meteoric rise in the American MMA scene but it came to a sudden halt after his loss to Horiuchi.

After his win over Climaco, Horiuchi immediately earned his shot at the big league as one of the participants of the flyweight tournament of “Road to UFC,” in which the tournament winner will earn a UFC contract.

The 27-year-old Davis has been in the pro MMA ranks for only three years, but it seems that he’s a budding star. After fighting in different MMA organizations in his first four pro fights, Davis caught the eye of LFA, which booked him a fight on Feb. 4. He didn’t disappoint and walked away with a unanimous decision over Payton Brezinski in LFA 123.

Climaco is 6-1 with two wins by stoppage and a win by submission, while Davis is 5-0 with only a win by submission.

The LFA is one of the farm leagues of the UFC. The LFA has produced numerous UFC and Bellator FC fighters, most notably former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno.
