A fast-moving motorcycle rider died after he crashed into another motorcycle ahead of him in Barangay Yati, Liloan town, northern Cebu around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022.

Staff Sergeant Dennis Louie Castillo from the Traffic Enforcement Unit of Liloan Police Station identified the victim as John Paul Saceda, 22, an auto mechanic from Barangay Yati.

Investigation revealed that Saceda was travelling fast towards south when he bumped into the tail of the motorcycle driven by Louie Anthony Collano Jr., a radiator shop worker and neighbor of the victim, when the latter suddenly made a u-turn.

Saceda was brought to Mendero Medical Center in the neighboring town of Consolacion but was later pronounced dead by attending physician.

Collano was brought to the Liloan Police Station for detention.

John Rey Bohol, a traffic enforcer of Liloan, said he saw Saceda pass by the area and even shouted at him as he was driving very fast.

The parents of Collano reportedly attempted to talk to the family of the victim to amicably settle the matter. (GDC)
