A LIVESTOCK trader was found dead inside his house in Sitio Culansehan, Barangay Lepanto, Alegria town, southwest Cebu on Sunday afternoon, July 24, 2022.

Police identified the victim as Ildefonso Glodove, 66, who was engaged in the buying and selling of livestock. He reportedly lived alone.

Forensic investigators found several stab wounds in the back and other parts of the victim’s body.

Patrolman James Vincent Morales of the Alegria Police Station told SunStar Cebu that it was Glodove’s relatives who found his body.

He was found lying on his stomach on the bamboo flooring of his house at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Glodove’s relatives told the police that the victim had pouch where he often put his earnings.

This pouch, usually placed around the Glodove’s waistline, was gone when the victim was discovered by his relatives, according to Morales.

Morales further said that Glodove’s relatives reported the incident to their station at 7:30 p.m.

He believed that the crime was premeditated and that the suspect had been targeting Glodove’s earnings before killing him.

The police believed that the victim was preparing food for dinner in the kitchen when the suspect barged inside the house and held him up.

The exact amount of money that the victim lost has still to be determined.

Another stabbing

Earlier on the same day, local police arrested a construction worker in Carcar City after he allegedly stabbed his wife’s uncle.

Corporal Ian Yancy Batucan, an investigator of the Carcar City Police Station, said they arrested Jaydie Dale Vallespin, 29, in Barangay Tuyom on Sunday dawn.

Vallespin reportedly committed the crime after he was insulted by his wife’s uncle, Jerry Tano, 34, who demanded that she leave the former for being incompetent.

Tano sustained four stab wounds, all accumulated on his back and stomach.

Tano was brought to Carcar District Hospital but he was later referred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment.

Batucan said Tano’s family is determined to file charges against Vallespin. (GDC, GPL / TPT)
