THE Department of Agriculture (DA) recently led the distribution of fertilizer discount vouchers under the National Rice Program to farmers in the Zaragoza town in Nueva Ecija in cooperation with the local government.
Twenty-eight rice farmers attended this activity and were given fertilizer discount vouchers. Each voucher is equivalent to P1,131 per hectare for farms planted with inbred seeds, and P2,262 per hectare for hybrid seeds.
It is estimated that 2,250 farmers from Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija will be the beneficiaries of this program this wet cropping season.
The discount voucher can be exchanged for fertilizer at accredited fertilizer merchants. One of the accredited merchants in Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija is Emo Agri Sales and Marketing, Inc. was invited to this event.
The fertilizer discount voucher is given to farmers registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and availed of rice seeds from the DA Rice Program in the past months.
