TAIWANESE officials are contemplating on establishing sisterhood ties with the Municipal Government of Minglanilla in southern Cebu.
Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (Teco) in the Philippines, made the statement after meeting with Minglanilla Mayor Rajiv Enad at the Teco in Makati City on Monday, July 25, 2022.
In a statement provided by the Minglanilla Municipal Government, Enad said aside from potential sisterhood ties between Taiwan and the town, the Taiwanese government is also exploring the possibility of opening assistive opportunities in the field of agriculture, education, tourism and export industry.
Enad said education became a center of discussion between him and Hsu as the ambassador wants to see more Filipinos, especially from the Visayas, join their pool of Asian scholars.
Aside from education, Hsu was also “particularly inclined” in helping Minglanilla in implementing “farm tourism” since its more practical and sustainable, Enad added.
