A MOTORIST was killed in a head-on collision involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck in the national highway of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, July 25, 2022.
Police Colonel Dionarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified the fatality as Fancisco Neri, 54, a farmer.
Albarico said the incident happened around 9:20 a.m. Saturday, July 23, in Purok 1, Delusom village, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.
He said investigation showed that Neri was driving a motorcycle bound from Josefina municipality from Mahayag town when he suddenly swerved to the other lane of the road and bumped head-on to an incoming pick-up truck driven by Rey Lamoste, 36, an executive of a micro fiancé firm.
Albarico said that as a result of the collision impact, Neri was thrown to the edge of the road while the pick-up’s front bumper and windshield were cracked but its driver, Lamoste, was unharmed.
He said that Neri was rushed to the Mahayag Municipal Hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician. (SunStar Zamboanga)
