THE Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), through the Procurement, Acquisition and Awards Division (Paad), has successfully livestreamed on Facebook the Zamboanga City Government’s public bidding process for two occasions already.

It is in compliance with the orders of Mayor John Dalipe, whose first official act mandated the implementation of the Freedom of Information (FOI) and the adoption of an open governance policy in Zamboanga City.

The open governance policy was declared by Dalipe during his inaugural speech, saying “all public bidding of the city government will be held live on Facebook.”

Dalipe said it is also pursuant to the constitutional provision on full public disclosure of all City Government transactions involving public interest as well as Republic Act No. 11292, which mandates transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.

The first public bidding of the City Government livestreamed on Facebook was held on July 15 that highlighted the opening and evaluation of bids received for the procurement of watercrafts, motor vehicle, motor spare parts, computer units and peripherals, welfare goods, among others.

The second was on Thursday, July 21, which focused on the opening and evaluation of bids submitted by participating suppliers for the purchase of various office supplies, to allow interested Zamboangueños to monitor and observe the entire proceedings.

The aggregate approved budget for the entire package was P1,092,518.

The bidding process is aired on the city government’s official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/zambocitygovt) as scheduled by Paad of the city mayor’s office.

More public biddings are expected to be broadcast weekly from the Paad office. (SunStar Zamboanga)
