A FISHERMAN who was declared missing on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, was found floating in the sea off Barangay Lanao, Pilar town, Camotes Island past 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 27.

It was learned that Reynaldo Pastoran, 53, of Barangay Kawit, Pilar, had already gone fishing but decided to go back to the sea at 11 a.m. Tuesday to catch more octopus.

"Alas onse karon adlawa, nakit-an ni sa mga silingan sa baybayon ni tunga kay magpatimbang sa nakuha niya nga isda unya nibalik og panagat," said Lieutenant Claudio Gako, officer-in-charge of Pilar Police Station.

(At 11 a.m. today (Tuesday), he was seen by his neighbors along the seashore weighing his fish catch, then went back to the sea).

Pastoran, however, failed to come home on that day, prompting the police, Bantay Dagat and Coast Guard personnel of Pilar to conduct a search and rescue operation.

The victim was found floating in the sea already dead around 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Pastoran had lost his one eye. His ears were also bitten and his legs had swelled.

According to fellow fisherman Wilfredo Serato, they immediately called for assistance after noticing that Pastoran was not in his boat anymore.

The victim left behind his wife and two children. (BBT, GDC, TPT)
