AN official of the Department of Education in Davao Region said the hiring of more non-teaching personnel will help ease teachers from administrative tasks.

“Dako kaayo na og tabang (This will help a lot). I know the intent of the Honorable Vice-President and DepEd Secretary, she just really wanted that the teachers will focus on teaching and that is our dream,” Jenielito Atillo, DepEd Davao Region Spokesperson, said in an interview with SunStar Davao on July 27.

He added that administrative tasks eat up the time of the teachers to focus on teaching.

DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa said on July 27 that this plan will also allow teachers to upscale teaching quality.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Partylist with SunStar Davao, the group said they are happy about this plan.

“ACT Union of Davao City is very happy to avail about the additional manpower or personnel for a non-DepEd job for our teacher but prior to that there is another need that the teachers are looking for; employ additional teachers to be able to implement the ideal class size of maximum 35 students, and ensure the health protection and benefits of teachers and non-teaching staff,” Reynaldo Pardillo, ACT President Davao City said.
