NPA rebel arrested in Zamboanga de Norte

A NEW People’s Army (NPA) rebel was arrested by government troops in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested NPA rebel as Mido Mandasay, 70, who have ben with the movement for the past 40 years.

A certain Roger Paglinawan, 49, also surrendered to authorities.

Chang said that Mandasay was arrested in an intelligence-driven operation around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at Sitio Tiosan in Nasibac village, Leon B. Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte.

Chang said that seized from Mandasay was an Ingram sub-machinegun with ammunition.

She said that Mandasay was placed under the custody of the 2nd Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Mobile Company. (SunStar Zamboanga)
