PREPARATIONS are underway for the conduct of face-to-face (F2F) classes this coming school year in Zamboanga City.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said they have started on Tuesday, July 26, to train teachers in batches on how to conduct rapid antigen testing in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd).

Miravite said that teachers will be equipped with antigen testing kits to be used as the need arises.

“So if they notice any (DepEd) personnel, teachers or students that manifest symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), they can conduct antigen testing,” Miravite said.

“They can isolate them if in case positive of Covid-19 and coordinate or refer to us the patient for appropriate action,” she added.

Miravite said they have sufficient antigen kits to be distributed in schools in this city.

She said that City Health Office personnel in the different health districts have also visited the schools in their respective areas to schedule the vaccination of children.

The City Health Office has so far fully vaccinated 710 children aged five to 11 with comorbidity and 59,736 without comorbidity.

For children 12 to 17 years old, 1,746 with comorbidity and 94,150 without comorbidity have been fully vaccinated.

Some 1,209 children aged 12 to 17 have also received their first vaccine booster.

Meanwhile Miravite said that her office has sufficient vaccines as the inoculation program continues in this city. (SunStar Zamboanga)
