SunStar Lifestyle interns discuss what makes a great chicken wing

Internships are one of the best things that have happened in the world of work. Companies get infused with fresh, young ideas while the youthful starters get a taste of what it’s like to hustle in the real world.

July 29 is recognized as National Intern Day, and so SunStar Lifestyle is rounding up its current roster of talented interns, and will be asking them the most important question of the 21st Century: “How do you like your chicken wings, and why?”

Oh, July 29 is also celebrated as National Chicken Wing Day!

In the name of culinary curiosity, we asked our interns a couple of questions and they all came up with these top-tier responses:

“What do you like most about your experience with SunStar Lifestyle?”

“Honestly, I love the vibes. The men and women of SunStar are checking all the boxes when it comes to the vibes. My seniors point out my mistakes, and I honestly love it. Since I signed up for SunStar to learn from these beautiful people. Quite frankly, it makes me want to be the best version of myself as well, because I know I have a lot to learn, and I just want to be better than who I was yesterday and that’s the overall goal. I have changed quite a lot since I started interning for SunStar, and it feels like I’m slowly getting closer to the best version of myself day in, and day out. Godspeed.”

“How do you like your chicken wings?”

“I like my wings delicious to be honest! Although, preferably I love it with barbecue or just spicy sauce in general because I can take the heat! Cebu is so hot these wings got nothing on me. Lastly, I love my wings shared with the people I love, it makes its taste so much better in my opinion. Thank you!”

"What do you like most about your experience with SunStar Lifestyle?”

“SunStar has been a great place for me to experience new things, meet new people, challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone. While my professors at university have helped me find a career path I want to pursue, SunStar has been my first step on that path and I feel incredibly privileged to work with such hardworking, passionate individuals.”

“How do you like your chicken wings?”

“Fried, of course! I personally like my wings crispy, juicy and oily, not soggy. I also like to have the sauce on the side rather than have the wings already covered in it since I prefer keeping them as crispy as possible before I devour them. Also, I only ever eat spicy wings. The spicier the better!”

“What do you like most about your experience with SunStar Lifestyle?”

“SunStar Lifestyle has given me plenty of opportunities to meet new people, explore new places, and be one of the first to try pretty much anything. Plus, I’m treated like an actual employee with the right directions unlike some institutions I know.“

“How do you like your chicken wings?”

Honestly? I’m not a big fan of chicken wings. Okay, maybe a little if it’s fried and as long as it’s not paired with a sweet sauce and it’s not in a soup. Boiled chicken wings just have a weird texture that nobody should be subjected to but each to their own, I guess? As for sauce, something more on the indulgent side like sour cream with Buffalo sauce, real cheese (not that packaged/processed stuff you buy at the groceries), or just properly seasoned with a flavorful coating with a side of gravy that’s also seasoned. Also, no flavor powdered chicken because, why? Just why would y’all put sour cream/cheese/BBQ powder on chicken?

“What do you like most about your experience with SunStar Lifestyle?”

“The best part about working in SunStar Lifestyle is I get to learn from the best and most talented people in the industry. You learn a lot, very quickly, working with this team—but really, it’s all about getting the chance to taste great food and experience new things!”

“How do you like your chicken wings?”

“The only real way to have chicken wings is simply fried. Like a proper steak, I am a firm believer that excellently prepared chicken needs no further changes— it certainly does not need to rely on the crutches of overpowering sauces to mask inadequately seasoned chicken. Come at me, unli-chicken enjoyers!”
