Suspect in series of highway robberies in Bohol killed

ONE of the suspects in a series of highway robbery incidents in Bohol was killed during an encounter with the police past 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

The suspect was later identified as Victor Aguilar, 41, single, from Barangay Sagasa, Balilihan town, Bohol based on the documents that were recovered from his wallet.

It was learned the Aguilar, who was driving a Bajaj motorcycle without a helmet, did not stop when the police of Alicia town manning a checkpoint asked him to pull over but instead sped off, prompting the law enforcement officers to chase him up.

Lieutenant Wilson Orapa, chief of Alicia Police Station, also coordinated with their neighboring police stations to set up roadblocks against the suspect.

The operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit headed by Lieutenant Colonel John Kareen Escober chanced upon Aguilar in Sitio Cantugop, Barangay Napon, Alicia,

where an exchange of gunfire occurred that resulted in the death of the suspect.

Investigation revealed that Aguilar and his motorcycle had matched with the video clips on CCTV that were obtained by the police from places where the highway robberies occurred. (TPT)
