Over 900 police personnel to be deployed for Ironman 70.3 in Lapu-Lapu

MORE than 900 police personnel are set to be deployed for the upcoming Ironman 70.3 in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Lieutenant Colonel Eduard Sanchez, director for Operation Management Unit of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO), told SunStar Cebu that as of Friday, July 29, about 936 police personnel are expected to be deployed in various areas in the city starting August 4 to August 7.

He said around 60 personnel will be assigned for the arrival of delegates or participants on August 4 and 5, while 125 uniformed men will be deployed for the Ironkids event on August 6.

During the main event on August 7, about 751 personnel will be deployed in various areas, said Sanchez.

But the director said there may be reinforcements of personnel amid the series of meetings in preparation for the big event.

Aside from those personnel assigned, there will be security personnel designated in Barangay Punta Engaño, Mactan, Maribago, Agus, Marigondon and Suba Basbas.

The barangay captains of these villages have coordinated with police personnel and have assigned their tanods together with force multipliers to ensure peace and order in their respective communities.

"Ang amo lang nga kami sa security amo gipaninguha nga magmalamposan ni nga maong event kay dako kini nga pasigarbo ug dungog nga anhi gi held sa Lapu-Lapu City ang maong kalihokan," Sanchez said.
