People have been flocking to the mountains to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, move away from all the noise, gaze at the sights, and just take a moment to breathe. In fact, various spots like mountain cafés, restaurants and even resorts have opened up in the highlands of Cebu but none are quite like MiCasa Garden.

Nestled in the mountains of Sitio Gaang, Barangay Paril in the north district of Cebu City is MiCasa Garden, the perfect retreat for anyone looking to recharge and heal in nature.

After just a 30-minute trip from the city, fresh air, cool mountain breeze, and the most gorgeous view of Paril’s nature-rich landscapes are what will greet visitors once they step foot on the property.

The garden and camping ground has everything any camper could need—tents, sleeping bags, teepee huts with air conditioning, a café with a good menu selection and WI-FI!

Even if you’re not looking to stay the night, the café right beside the garden, Kuyang’s Café, is a breath of fresh air and a great place to put your feet up, dine on some good food and just chill with friends and family, making this the perfect spot to rest and relax.

Not convinced yet? Here are some of things you could expect at MiCasa Garden and Kuyang’s Café:

Relaxing atmosphere

MiCasa Garden is the perfect escape from the city where you get to just breathe in the luscious gardens teeming with all sorts of plants and flowers, which fill the air with this refreshing, natural aroma and add to the place’s relaxing atmosphere.

The open landscape makes for a peaceful time with barely any sound to accompany one except for birdsong, the sounds of a gentle breeze and the subtle swaying of branches and leaves. A few minutes at the place and people will soon forget about the loud city and its traffic.

Cozy and carefree camping experience

The campsite offers a comfortable spot to set up and settle for a cozy and carefree stay with tent and sleeping bag rentals available for use. Glamping is also an option with MiCasa Garden’s intimate teepee huts, which feature comfy mattresses and cozy bean bags.

Campers can also take their furry companions with them as the campsite allows pets, provided that they are leashed, hand-carried or in a carriage.

Guests are encouraged to practice “clean as you go,” to ensure the best quality experience possible.

A feast for the eyesand stomach

One thing that enhances the camping experience is the food and dining experience at MiCasa Garden’s adjoining café, Kuyang Café.

The cafe offers a range of dishes from burgers, sandwiches, pasta, seafood meals and sizzling plates, to more familiar Filipino favorites like pork sisig and sinigang. Owner Efren Nemeño especially recommends the spare ribs with garlic, stir-fry squid, pochero and lechon kawali.

Aside from variety, and affordable prices, one can also expect to taste freshly made meals. With its farm-to-table concept, the café serves the freshest meals made with homegrown ingredients gathered from local farms in the area.

Good coffee

Nemeño has been in the café business for over seven years, his experience starting with the opening of the first Kuyang Coffee Shop on J. Alcantara St., Cebu City. He eventually moved on to opening another Kuyang Café up in the mountains beside his good friend’s garden and camping site, MiCasa Garden.

His café brews coffee with high-quality beans sourced from Baguio for that true Filipino coffee taste unlike the coffee one would usually get at mainstream coffee shops.

Good times with friends and family

Given that it’s situated along a popular biking route, this spot is the best rest stop for biking enthusiasts to catch their breath, grab a drink and even catch up with a few friends. Kuyang Café also has open mic karaoke for anyone feeling the urge to sing their hearts out and just have a blast.

Bookings for parties, events and get-togethers are accepted.

With its stunning views, nature-rich location and chill, intimate atmosphere, MiCasa Garden and Kuyang’s café is the ideal destination for anyone looking to take a break from the city and reconnect with oneself. It can also be a place where you can be with loved ones and just peacefully coexist with nature.

MiCasa Garden is open for bookings all week, including weekends. Kuyang Café is open Wednesday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
