THE Cebu Provincial Government has committed to extend financial aid to areas in northern Luzon that were affected by the magnitude 7 earthquake that hit the area on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

The Province is currently assessing the damage caused by the tremor before releasing the financial assistance to some local government units (LGUs) in the province of Abra, the quake’s epicenter.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said the extent of damage caused by the quake will be made as their basis in giving the cash assistance.

“We are still asking for additional information on the number of affected LGUs and the extent of the damage,” said Garcia in a mix of Cebuano and English.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government Central Office said 200 LGUs in 15 provinces in northern Luzon were affected by the quake; while 58 landslides were recorded by the agency. (TPT)
