ASIDE from continuous prayer, the Archdiocese of Manila is holding second collections this weekend for the victims of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that hit Northern Luzon regions on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

In a statement, Manila Archdiocese Chancellor Fr. Isidro Marinay announced the holding of second collection in all Sunday Masses this weekend.

"In solidarity with the earthquake victims, let us offer our prayers for them, and have second collection this coming Sunday in all Masses, including Masses on Saturday evening, for their needs," said Marinay.

He said all parishes and chapels under its jurisdiction are encouraged to remit the second collections to the Archdiocese immediately.

"Please remit it to the accounting office as soon as possible," said Marinay.

On Wednesday morning, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Abra and its neighboring provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley.

The tremor killed five people, injured hundreds of others, as well as damaged homes, public infrastructures, buildings, including churches, and heritage sites.

Caritas Philippines, in response, has already launched a fundraising drive for victims of the calamity. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
