Coffee processing plant in Murcia inaugurated

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and its partners inaugurated a coffee processing plant in Barangay Canlandog, Murcia town on Monday, August 1.

The joint project of the Provincial Environment Management Office (Pemo) and Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Negros Occidental will be managed by the Murcia Integrated Social Forestry (ISF) Federation.

The project aims to empower the community and the farmers through improvement of coffee production, packaging, and marketing.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who led the inauguration, said he hopes that the project will be able to continuously help the farmers and their families, as well as inspire the younger generation to develop interest in coffee farming.

The Murcia ISF Federation headed by its president, Dionredo Santillan, also took their oaths of office before Lacson as part of the activity.

Also present were Murcia Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas, Canlandog Punong Barangay Reynaldo Gawan, Pemo Head Julie Ann Bedrio, DOST-Negros Occidental Officer-In-Charge Provincial Director Glady Reyes, local officials, and association members. (PR)
