THE Department of Agriculture's Livestock Banner Program has started the distribution of sentinel piglets for pig farmers in Apalit on Monday, August 1, 2022.

This is part of the Inspire or Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion program that aims to revive the swine sector and help pig farmers affected by African Swine Fever (ASF) get started.

The program aims to accelerate the recovery of the pork sector from ASF which is a three-year program that offers a combination of interventions to start and revive this industry. The program has three components: calibrated repopulation and swine livelihood enterprise, establishment of breeder multiplier farms; and intensive and modernized production.

The Livestock Program will also distribute sentinel piglets in Minalin and Macabebe.

Recently, 135 sentinel piglets and 405 sacks of feeds were given to members of the Kaisa Women's Organization (KWO) of Tarlac City in a bid to boost local swine production.
