ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has vowed to work for a drug-free city hall as he ordered for the contunuation of suprise drug test among City Government employees.

On August 1, 2022, Lazatin ordered the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council to conduct a surprise drug test on 66 members of the Angeles City Gender and Development Office.

All 66 members of GAD turned out to be negative of illegal drugs.

“On my second term, we will ensure that the city hall will be drug-free,” Lazatin said.

According to the mayor, employees who will test positive of prohibited drugs will undergo rehabilitation.

This initiative, Lazatin said, will reduce the demand for illegal drugs and at the same time, promote a drug-free workplace and reformation.

Lazatin established the Balay Silangan reformation center during his first term. The local chief chief executive said he is planning to expand the institution in his second term.

The Balay Silangan Reformation Center is a brainchild of then Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Aaron Aquino to reform illegal drug offenders.
