Central Luzon ‘Brigada Eskwela’ launched

THE Department of Education (DepEd) in Central Luzon on Monday, August 1, officially launched “Brigada Eskwela” 2022 with heightened bayanihan and spirit of volunteerism in opening activities conducted in various public schools in Pampanga, Tarlac and other provinces in Central Luzon.

The opening ceremonies for Central Luzon were held in the Schools Division Office of Tarlac province.

Themed “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik Aral,” Brigada Eskwela---also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week, will run from August 1 to August 26 this year in accordance to DepEd Memorandum No. 34, Series of 2022.

The activity conducted annually in public schools nationwide aims to ensure that schools will be prepared before the opening of classes and along with “Oplan Balik Eskwela” which will start on August 15, shall focus on information campaigns and strengthening partnerships that complement DepEd’s effort to ensure quality basic education, especially that in-person classes are returning amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Brigada Eskwela gathers various stakeholders composed of DepEd teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, and volunteers from communities, representatives from the private and public sectors to ensure the smooth opening of classes for the incoming school year, which in 2022 will start on August 22.

During the Brigada, school facilities are assessed and repaired to make sure that campuses will be ready to welcome the students as they troop back to their classrooms.

In her message delivered by DepEd Central Luzon Director May B. Eclar, Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, expressed support to Brigada Eskwela and all involved and participating stakeholders.

“The collaboration between the parents, the teachers, local governments, and the entire community on Brigada Eskwela opens a deeper and meaningful collaboration even until after the school year closes. With the national government supporting DepEd with the Basic Education Development Plan 2030 serving as our guide, the success of the Department’s plans and programs shall now be completed by undying love for the profession of teaching Filipino children, our children, the future of our nation,” Duterte -Carpio said.
