The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) recently launched Mandaue Business Month (MBM) this August with the theme “Ushering the Great Reset: Riding the Tailwinds of Change.”

During the annual media briefing, MCCI president Kelie Ko said: “Someone mentioned, we find ourselves at historic crossroads, managing short term pressures amid medium and long term uncertainties. Let us take this Mandaue Business Month (MBM 2022) as an opportunity to reshape our economy, making it better, inclusive, resilient and sustainable.”

MBM 2022 chairman Mark Anthony Ynoc invited the business sector to be part of the events that will showcase Mandaue’s business potential and world-class industries that continue to contribute to the city’s economic development.

Various activities will include the Mandaue Expo 2022 to be held on Aug. 5, 6 and 7 at Mandaue’s sports complex; Trees Brew for Life on Aug. 6 at the Umapad Green Park; and the Executive Forum: “Situational Approach to Leadership Makes the Difference“ on Aug. 12 at the Cebu City Sports Club.

Other events: “Duwa: Cebu Children’s Festival” on Aug. 13 and 14 and Aug. 20 and 21 at the Oakridge Business Park; MCCI Business Summit on Aug. 18 at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu; Mandani Bay Dragon Boat Regatta on Aug. 20 at Mandani Bay and Mandaue Investment Forum at Mahogany Executive Lounge-Oakridge.

Girlie Garces, communications officer at San Miguel Corp., chairs both The Trees Brew for life—a tree planting activity in partnership with San Miguel—and the Mandaue Expo 2022, a weekend market that will showcase Mandaue City’s various products. The latter event will be co-chaired with Amado Go, president of Cenapro Chemical Corp. and Michelle Co-Lin, CTBC Bank Vismin-Business center head. The Executive Forum is in partnership with Blanchard Philippines and CMC Business Solutions Inc. They will conduct a four-hour brief introduction to SLII (A Situational Approach to Leadership. Solutions. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) for interested MCCI board and members for a capacity of 50 pax. Chairperson is Marvey Alcantara, general manager of Uratex, while co-chair is Margo Frasco, creative director of MDF Productions Inc.

The Cebu Children’s Festival, “Duwa” is organized for children and will feature games, workshops and performances, to enhance their creativity and curiosity. KGK Management Inc. general manager Kelie Ko, chairs this event, with Sam Lao, president and chief executive officer of Realty Options Marketing & Consultancy Inc.

The prestigious MCCI Business Summit 2022 will feature top caliber speakers who will share their valuable business knowledge and expertise: Fernando Zobel de Ayala, president and chief executive officer of Ayala Corp.; Matteo Lanzafame, Asian Development Bank senior economist; Ana Maria Aboitiz-Delgado, Unionbank executive vice president and chief digital channel officer; and Cherry Pua-Africa, a transformational coach. The event chair and co-chair are Adrian Lee, proprietor of Ngohiong Express, and Walter Ong, chief finance officer of Worldwide Steel Group Inc., respectively.

A first in Mandaue City and in support of the Philippine Accessible Disability Services Inc. (Pads) is the Mandani Bay Dragon Boat Regatta 2022. Ynoc, vice president of Prime Movers Total Logistics Inc., is the event chair, while Calvin Gothong, president and chief executive officer of Carlos A. Gothong Lines Inc. is the co-chair.

Beverly Dayanan, president and chief executive officer of Contempo Property Holdings Inc., chairs the Mandaue Investment Forum, while Bambi Gothong-Tan, president and chief executive officer of A.D Gothong Manufacturing Corp. is co-chair.

Organized in partnership with the Cebu Provincial Government and Mandaue City, the MBM aims to promote sustainable and socially responsible entrepreneurship and position Mandaue City and Cebu Province as an attractive destination for investment.

The chamber hopes that its small efforts and planned activities will create awareness on how to make things better. MCCI president Kelie Ko reminds all: Go for the gold, MCCI!
