11,346 security personnel deployed during Kadayawan

DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) said a total of 11,346 security personnel will be deployed during the Kadayawan events from August 5 to 21, 2022.

DCPO Spokesperson Teresita Gaspan said in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on August 3, that there will be an initial 2,700 personnel from Philippine National Police that will be deployed for the whole duration of the Kadayawan celebration. While 4,200 personnel will be deployed to secure the route of the participants for the Indak-indak and Pamulak events.

The remaining personnel or security forces will be coming from the security and safety cluster of Davao City.

Gaspan said for Indak-indak and Pamulak, they are expecting at least 25,000 people for both.

“Lauman nato ang daghan nga motambong especially tong mga signature na mga activities. Daghan gyud kaayo mga turista nga moabot dire sa atoa, considering nga wa pay pandemic, most visited place man gyud ang Davao City so isa na gyud sa gipangandaman nato og atong gibuhusan og mga tao (We should expect that there will be a lot tourists especially during the signature event. Even before the pandemic, Davao City has been one of the most visited places [in the Philippines]),” Gaspan said.

Meanwhile, Gaspan said the wearing of face masks remain a mandatory public health protocol that the public should follow.

DCPO reminded the tourists and locals that flying drones during the events is still prohibited unless they have secured the necessary clearances. Backpacks, wearing of jackets, bringing of sharp objects, alcoholic drinks, illegal drugs, and firearms are also not allowed in the activity areas.

Gaspan said parents are also discouraged from bringing small children during the Kadayawan events. KSD
