CEBU FC-Central Visayas Football Association (CFC-CVFA) U-19 squad is off to an impressive start in the CVFA U-20 Invitational Cup following a 9-1 thrashing of Bohol U-20 on Aug. 4 at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex in Talisay City.
CFC-CFA’s attack was led by Keenan Cergneux and Stephen Soria, who both scored a hat-trick.
Cergneux scored in the 24th, 30th and 39th minute, while Soria hit the back of the net in the 55th, 86th and 88th minutes.
Kyrell Bangot scored in the 60th, Paul Mapula in the 62nd and Mark Zafra in the 80th minute.
Negros United squeaked past Forza FC, 2-1, in the other match.
CFC-CVFA is at the top of the Invitational Cup with three points and is ahead of Negros United, which also has three points, on goal difference.
Forza FC is third and Bohol U-20 is last.
CFC-CVFA takes on Negros United on Aug. 5 at 9 a.m., while Forza FC faces Bohol U-20 in the first match at 7 a.m.
The CFC-CVFA is deep in preparation for the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U-19 National Championship Division 2 from Aug. 23 to 27. CVFA is looking to be promoted to the First Division by winning the Visayas-Mindanao finals.
