NEOPHYTE legislator Rhea Mae Gullas has been elected Assistant Majority Leader of the 19th Congress, her husband, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr., announced on his Facebook page Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022.

Cebu First District Rep. Rhea Gullas has filed nine bills in the House of Representatives since the 19th Congress opened last July 1.

She filed House bill (HB) 1070 creating an additional legislative district in the Province of Cebu to be carved out of the first district.

To be called the Cebu 8th district, it would comprise the cities of Naga and Carcar and the towns of San Fernando and Sibonga, leaving only Talisay and Minglanilla under the first district.

She also filed HB 1073 to establish a Cebu Light Rail Transport System for operation in Cebu City and Metro Cebu, HB 1072 to establish a national mathematics and science high school in South Poblacion in San Fernando town, Cebu, and HB 1071 declaring three parcels of land of the public domain in the City of Naga encompassing 630.83 hectares as agricultural land open to disposition for agricultural, residential, commercial, industrial, or other productive purposes.

Her remaining five bills seek the conversion of these roads to national roads: city road Congressman A. Bacaltos Road and Natalio Bacalso Ave., and barangay roads Maghaway-Tapul road, and Fidel Bas Road-Rizal Road, all in Talisay City; the provincial road San Fernando and Pinamungahan Road spanning the two towns; and the barangay road Old Railway–Cabutoy Road to Tungkil, spanning Talisay City and Minglanilla town.
