DAVAO City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte said they will be inviting more government agencies in the Barangay Caravan, especially if it will be held in far-flung areas.

“Mangadto me diha sa inyuhang araw, kauban ang some of the national services para mag-caravan para ma-offer namo ang amoang services para sa mga tao (We will visit your barangay during your ‘araw’ celebration, and we’ll invite some of the national agencies to the caravan to offer services for the people)” Duterte said in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on August 4, 2022.

Duterte said the Barangay Caravan was stopped for two years due to the pandemic and recently resumed on July 18, 2022 during the 57th Araw ng Barangay of Barangay Crossing Bayabas.

The Barangay Caravan aims to bring public services and city office transactions to the residents of the target barangay. Services include health services by the City Health Office and PhilHealth, and Lingap; social welfare services from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the Office of the Senior Citizen (OSCA), and the Educational Benefit System Unit (EBSU); legal services provided by the City Legal Office (CLO) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI); and veterinary services from the City Veterinarian Office (CVO).

Other government agencies that have been invited to provide services include the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the City Civil Registrar’s Office (CCRO), the City Assessor’s Office (CASSO), the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO), the Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Division (BCCAD), the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAGRO), the Vice Mayor’s Office (VMO) and the City Mayor’s Office (CMO).

Duterte said during his conversation with the residents in the previous caravans, most of their concerns are related to medical bills.

“Naobserbahan gyud nako wa pa ko na-Mayor or Vice-Mayor, kasagaran kay medical bills gyud. Mao bitaw naga-allocate gyud ta og resources para sa atong health care gyud kay maoy pinaka-encumbering na problema sa mga tao (Even before I became the Mayor or Vice-Mayor, most of their concerns are medical bills which is the main reason why we allocate funds to our health care since this is one of the most encumbering problem of our people),” Duterte said.

The next Barangay Caravan is in Mandug on August 8, 2022. On August 9, 2022, it will be in Centro Agdao; August 19, 2022 in Barangay Malambo; and Barangay Los Amigos is on August 22, 2022. KSD
