THE security cluster will implement tight measures and monitoring of bars and other drinking establishments during the incoming Kadayawan Festival in Davao City, according to retired Police Lt. Col. Angel Sumagaysay on August 4, 2022.

Sumagaysay, head of the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), said they will follow the existing liquor ban policy in the city while conducting strict monitoring in different establishments serving alcoholic drinks.

The city will maintain its liquor ban from 1:00 to 8:00 am based on the Executive Order (EO) No. 5 Series of 2022 “An order providing for the lifting of the modified liquor ban in Davao City.”

“May instructions ang mayor na higpitan talaga to properly monitor ang mga restobars at mga restaurants na dapat sundon ang liquor ban ordinance (The mayor gave strict instructions to properly monitor if the restobars and restaurants are following the liquor ban),” Sumagaysay said during the I-Speak media forum.

Extra security measures are also in place in line with the Anti-Criminality Program in coordination with the Davao City Police, said Task Force Davao spokesperson Capt. Louie Dema-ala.

“Meron ginagawang random checkpoints sa lahat ng mga restobar, kung saan lagi natin check na wala ulit mangyari na untoward incident (We are conducting random checkpoints in all restobars wherein we make sure no untoward incidents will take place),” he said during the media forum.

Event security

Kadayawan events organized by private groups are also expected to attract big crowds.

The PSSCC head said they are also providing security for these events to ensure safety for all venues of convergence during the festival.

“Security cluster is always providing security for all events, even sa private as long as they coordinate and comply requirements of the city government,” Sumagaysay said. ICM
