"IT IS an honor.”
The statement was made by Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya as he was elected to the Commission on Appointments on Wednesday, August 3.
Gasataya was among the 10 initially elected members of the commission as moved by House Majority Leader Manuel Jose "Mannix" Dalipe during the regular session of the House of Representatives.
In a statement, the lawmaker said he is grateful to House Speaker Martin Romualdez for entrusting the position to him.
Gasataya also recognized the support of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and his local party Team Asenso and all his supporters.
The Commission on Appointments is a constitutional body composed of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate with the power to approve or disapprove appointments made by the President, the confirmation of which is required by the constitution.*
