AN ALLEGED bomber of the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS)-inspired Dawlah Islamiya (DI) terrorist group was killed while another was captured after a clash in the Maguindanao, the military reported Friday, August 5, 2022.

Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said the clash happened around 2:15 a.m. Friday in Dicalugan village, Ampatuan, Maguindanao.

Rosario identified the slain DI bomber as Khamhed Akan Kambal alias Mheds, who belong to the DI-Hassan group led by Alpha King. Arrested was identified as Nasrudin Sali Blah, 22.

“Troops of the 40th Infantry Battalion (IB) conducted focused military operation (FMO) in response to the reports received of the hostile plans of the DI-Maguindanao against the CSP-PCVE (Community Support Program-Preventing and Countering Violent Extemism) Teams deployed in the area of responsibility of the 601st Infantry Brigade,” Rosario said.

He said the troops recovered from the clash site aside from Kamhal’s remains were two improvised bombs, a caliber .45 pistol, bomb-making components, personal belongings, and propaganda materials.

He said the remains of Kambal was turned over to the officials of Dicalungan village while Blah was turned over to the police for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, Rosario commended the troops for successfully thwarting the terror plots of the Dawlah Islamiya terrorists.

“The terrorists are desperate enough to show their force to gain popular support from the civil society. Rest assured that we will do everything to stop them from creating havoc on peaceful communities,” he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
