SOME 23 former drug users who are beneficiaries of the Kinabuhi Angay Ampingan Bag-ohon Alang sa Ginoo (Kaabag) were recently taught how to do haircut in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The activity held at the covered court of the city’s Barangay Bagonbon is part of the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s Community Assistance Reaching Everyone in the Spirit of Service (SP Cares) program.
The endeavor is also facilitated by the San Carlos City Children and Women’s Affair Incorporated (SCCCAWAI) where each beneficiary received a tool kit consisting of two kinds of scissors, comb and barber cape.
Each beneficiary also received seven kilos of rice from which the two kilos came from the SCCAWAI and the five kilos from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
Ma. Consuelo Janice Carmona, SCCCAWAI president and Punong Barangay Editha Juanillo said that these former drug users could use the skills that acquire through the training as a possible source of income
Alias “Dodong”, 22 years old, a Kaabag beneficiary thanked the city government and concerned offices for choosing them as recipients of the training.
He said this can enhance their skills since some of them already know how to do basic cut hair.
While illegal drug use remains a menace to the society, many organizations are helping those who want to recuperate and become part of the society again as responsible citizens.
