Dante destroys Azarcon, wins vacant WBF Int’l belt

BATTLE-scarred veteran Lito Dante demolished Clyde Azarcon in the fourth round to claim the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International minimumweight belt in Part I of Ultimate Knockout Challenge (UKC): “Annihilation” on Sunday at The Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque City.

Dante knocked down Azarcon with an overhand right in the third round. He dropped Azarcon again with a right hook-left hook combination. Dante knocked him down for a third time in the round with a counter right.

The 32-year-old Dante caught Azarcon with a right straight that sent Azarcon slumping to the canvass prompting referee Sammy Bernabe Sr. to stop the fight just 16 seconds into the fourth round.

Dante improved to 19-11-4 with 11 knockouts, while the Cebu-based Azarcon fell to 17-5-1 with six knockouts.

On the other hand, Roy Sumugat (13-12-1, 6 KOs) defeated Jufel Salina (5-4-1, 4 KOs) by unanimous decision in the main supporting bout.
