THE Provincial Government of Davao del Norte is targeting to expand its Covid-19 vaccination coverage, in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.

In a press release, Provincial Health Office (PHO) is targeting to cover 90 percent vaccinees under the primary series coverage under the Priority Group A2 or senior citizens, while 50 percent for the first booster coverage in the entire population.

It is part of Marcos' vaccination campaign strategy which will last for 100 days.

As part of its strategy to reach the "wall of immunity", the PHO, in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) launched the “PinasLakas Campaign” on Tuesday, August 2 at the DavNor Gym, Sports and Tourism Complex.

In a message read by Provincial Administrator Josie Jean R. Rabanoz, Governor Edwin Jubahib said during the event that he is calling on everyone to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

“Our battle against Covid-19 is far from over... And the only way forward is to cloak everyone with additional layer of protection... Ang atong kagawasan magdepende ra usab sa atong gipakita nga pagtagad ug pakiglambigit sa kasulbaran sa atong problema," the governor said.

He added that complacency and disinterest in getting vaccinated will be impossible for the province to achieve herd immunity.

DOH Undersecretary Abdullah B. Dumama Jr. said the PinasLakas Campaign aims to strengthen the vaccination rollout, which is a small step toward the gradual revival of the economy, education, health, and tourism.

Dumama also urged the public to continuously implement the minimum public health standards as a measure to curb the spread of the virus.

“Gusto natin maibalik na yung normal na ating situation... Kailangan magpractice tayo ng minimum public health standards at bakuna. Wala nang tatalo diyan... Bigyan na natin ng kahalagahan yung bakuna para maibalik na natin yung ating usual na ginagawa," Dumama said.

The vaccination will cover the primary doses for the pediatric age group five to 11 years old, and booster doses for the age groups 12 years and above. RGL
