A SLASH in his throat ended the life of a store worker at Barangay Mambulac in Silay City, Negros Occidental, whose bloodied body was found Friday night, August 6.

But the relatives of the victim Steven Abalayan, 23, of Loney 1 Street in the barangay said they believed it could have been a case of a mistaken identity.

Abalayan’s sister April Mae, 21, said that it is possible that the suspect Gerald Superficial, 35, of Antonio Luna Interior also in the barangay intended to kill his brother’s twin Stephen over a grudge.

This is because the victim was wearing the jacket of his twin brother, who is now working in Manila, when he was killed, she said.

“Damo nakabati nga nagsinggit sa nga indi to ako (Many heard him shouting that it wasn’t me),” she also said, adding that her brother was on his way to his employer’s house before he was killed.

Superficial initially escaped after killing the victim but was arrested in a follow-up operation shortly after noon on Saturday, August 6 after a witness identified him.
