NEWLY appointed Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) chief PCol. Jeffrey Caballes vowed Monday, August 8, 2022, to deploy more of his personnel to the streets.

Caballes made the statement following Mayor Jonas Cortes’ appeal to the local police to expand its visibility in areas in the city where no police detachments are present.

Caballes told reporters that in response to Cortes’ appeal, he plans to order his personnel to conduct mobile and foot patrols and hold checkpoints in some areas in the city.

He also said he would look into MCPO’s existing programs and determine if they will continue them.

On Friday, August 5, Cortes urged Caballes to install mobile police units or substations particularly in Jagobiao, A.S. Fortuna St. and at the city’s flyover area near Barangay Maguikay as these areas have no accessible physical police station.

“Our flyovers are very strategic. They are intersections, major highways, and major thoroughfares. If we can put police substations, at least the public and tourists will feel generally safe seeing that there are police within these areas,” Cortes said.

Caballes was formally introduced as the new MCPO officer- in-charge during a formal turnover ceremony conducted by the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) on Wednesday, August 3.

Caballes replaced Police Colonel Roland Bulalacao, who would be assuming the former’s previous position as the head of PRO 7’s Regional Operations Division.
