Octa: Positivity rate in various provinces remain on an uptrend

OCTA Research has noted a continuous uptrend in the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positivity rate of several provinces in the country, Octa fellow Dr. Guido David said on Monday, August 8, 2022.

As of August 8, David said the positivity rate, or the number of people who tested positive for the virus versus those who were found negative after getting tested was at “very high risk” in the provinces of Albay, Benguet, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Isabela, La Union, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Pampang, Pangasinan, Quezon, Rizal, Tarlac and Zambales in Luzon.

The top five provinces in Luzon with a very high positivity rate were Camarines Sur with 48.7 percent, Isabela with 47.6 percent, Tarlac with 41.9 percent, Nueva Ecija with 38.4 percent and Pampanga with 35 percent.

Positivity rate in Benguet increased from 18.3 percent or “high risk” on July 30, to 22 percent or “very high risk” on August 6.

In the National Capital Region, Bataan, Batangas and Bulacan, positivity rates were below 20 percent.

In Ilocos Norte, the positivity rate went down from 10.4 percent last week to 9.9 percent.

In provinces outside Luzon such as Aklan, Bohol, Capiz, Negros Oriental and Palawan, positivity rates were also “very high.”

Capiz had the highest positivity rate at 64 percent, followed by Aklan with 40.1 percent, Bohol with 26.9 percent, Negros Oriental with 23.4 percent and Palawan with 20.4 percent.

Positivity rates in Cebu, Davao del Sur, Iloilo, Lanao del Norte, Leyte, Misamis Oriental, Negros Occidental, South Cotabato also increased, but it remained under “high risk” or below 20 percent.

In Davao del Norte, the positivity rate was at 5.4 percent or “moderate risk.” (SunStar Philippines)
