Cebu airport, tour operators ready for increase in tourist arrivals

GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC) has collaborated with Cebu Alliance of Tour Operations Specialist Inc. (Catos) in efforts to bring back tourists to Cebu.

The private airport operator recently engaged about 50 tour operators from central and southern Philippines through the “Balik Cebu” (Come Back to Cebu) virtual product update as Cebu gears up for the expected increase in the number of tourists.

The Cebu tourism industry is showing positive signs of recovery from the effects of the pandemic after eased border restrictions allowed both local and foreign tourists to travel again.

“We are looking forward to welcoming more passengers in Cebu as we also look forward to exciting things happening as recovery begins in full swing,” Aines Librodo, head of airline marketing and tourism development at GMCAC, said in a statement released by aviation data provider Routesonline.

The eased border restrictions, the official said, paved the way for the resumption of “opportunities to recover from the economic downturn.”

Librodo added that as more passengers return to travel again, the airport is fully prepared to ensure necessary facilities and services, including transfer desk assistance and shuttle service, are available to offer convenience to the travelers.
