CELEBRATING its 31st year this August 2022, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) continues to uphold its commitment to quality public service, most especially in mitigating disasters, preventing and suppressing destructive fires, ensuring the safety of communities, and pursuing education and information advocacies.

As part of the bureau's celebration in Bacolod City, the BFP held a Fire Square, wherein some mallgoers, most especially kids, participated in their activities and emergency response drills that gave them first-hand experience on being a firefighter.

Dubbed as the BFP Square, the event was held on August 5 to 6, 2022 at the North Wing Atrium of SM City Bacolod.

Kids and their parents learned about fire safety measures through lectures and simulation activities.

The activities that the firefighting team has prepared were similar to what they also do and perform in responding to calls during emergencies.

The setting was fun and interactive for kids and kids-at-heart, with exposure to firefighting techniques, simulation of burning buildings, working with ropes and equipment, learning about basic first aid, and practicing safety at all times.

BFP-Western Visayas Director Chief Superintendent Jerry Candido, together with the BFP offices and stations of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City thanked the public for coming over to participate and enjoy the two-day event at SM City Bacolod, while getting to know the friendly firefighters who have dedicated themselves to keeping the communities, they serve safe.
