Azurin implements major revamp in PNP

NEWLY appointed chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. has implemented a major revamp in the organization with the reshuffle of 80 police officers, including top officials.

Azurin assigned Lieutenant General Jose Chiquito Malayo as the Deputy Chief for Administration, the second in command in the PNP. He will replace Lieutenant General Rhodel Sermonia, who is taking the helm as director of the Area Police Command (APC) in Visayas.

Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr., deputy chief for Operations, the third highest position in the PNP, was also reassigned to serve as the commander of the APC in Western Mindanao.

Danao, who served as the PNP’s officer-in-charge since May, will be replaced by Major General Benjamin Santos Jr. from the Directorate for Comptrollership (DC), while Major General Arthur Bisnar will take Malayo’s post as the deputy chief for Directorial Staff, the fourth highest official in the organization.

Bisnar will vacate his post as the chief of the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development (DHRDD).

“The reorganization of personnel occupying key positions aims to provide opportunities and career growth. At the same time, this move shall strengthen and empower strategic offices and units with the placement of more seasoned and experienced senior officers at their helms to further hone the operational and administrative undertakings against criminality, enforcement of the law, and maintenance of peace and order,” PNP Public Information Office chief Brigadier General Roderick Alba said in a statement.

Major General Patrick Villacorte was assigned as the acting commander of APC Eastern Mindanao, Major General Felipe Natividad as acting commander of APC Northern Luzon, Major General Filmore Escobal as acting deputy commander of APC Visayas, Brigadier General Arthur Cabalona as acting deputy commander of APC Eastern Mindanao, Brigadier General Oliver Enmodias as acting deputy commander of APC Northern Luzon, Brigadier General Alden Delvo as acting executive officer of APC Western Mindanao, Brigadier General Chito Bersaluna as acting executive officer of APC Eastern Mindanao and Colonel Reynaldo Tamondong as the acting executive officer APC Northern Luzon.

Azurin also named Brigadier General Jonnel Estomo as the acting regional director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

He also assigned Colonel Jaysen De Guzman as the acting director of the NCRPO-Quezon City Police District, Colonel Ponce Peñones Jr. as the acting director of the NCRPO-Northern Police District (NPD), Colonel Wilson Asueta as acting director of the NCRPO-Eastern Police District (EPD), Colonel Kirby John Kraft as the acting director of the NCRPO-Southern Police District, and Brigadier General Andre Dizon as the director of the Manila Police District.

De Guzman will replace Brigadier General Remus Medina, who was transferred to the Police Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) of the Directorate for Personnel Records Management (DPRM), while Brigadier General Ulysses Cruz the former NPD director was assigned as the director for Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group.

From being the EPD’s top cop, Brigadier General Jerry Bearis was assigned as the deputy regional director for administration of the Police Regional Office 3 (Central Luzon).

Kraft will replace Brigadier General Jamili Macaraeg, who was assigned as the regional director of Police Regional Office 12 (Soccsksargen), while Dizon is taking the post of Brigadier General Leo Francisco, who was named as the regional director of the Police Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas).

Transferred to the Office of the Chief PNP were Major General Alexander Sampaga and Brigadier General Thomas Frias Jr.

Named as the acting director of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) was Brigadier General Eric Noble, while Brigadier General Joaquin Alva as the PNPA acting deputy director for Administration and Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III as the acting combatant of Cadets.

* Brigadier General Lawrence Coop - Regional Director PRO 10 (Northern Mindanao)
