THE Talisay City Health office announced that the giving of booster shots to students is still not compulsory, unless ordered by the Department of Health and Department of Education.

Dr. Lino Alanzado, head of Talisay City Health, said they are still waiting an order from the two government agencies on whether or not to make booster shots compulsory for students who will attend the limited face-to-face classes on August 22.

But Alanzado said they still have no available booster doses for children aged 5 to 11, but only for those 12 years old and above.

"Kon dili sila mo-avail, dili ta kapugos pero naa gihapon mi booster 12 and up, naa gihapon mi booster house-to-house sa Lagtang from Monday to Wednesday, naa pud sa Star Mall," Dr. Alanzado said.

(If they don't want to avail themselves of the booster shot, we cannot force them, but we still have booster shots for children aged 12 and above and these are available in Star Mall. We also have in Lagtang through house-to-house from Monday to Wednesday.)

Alanzado said he was hoping that the government officials would allow them to let the children undergo booster shots.

"Probably kon mosugot ang mga school authorities moadto ta sa mga schools alang sa pagpanghatag og booster shots sa mga estudyante," said Alanzado.

(Probably if school authorities agree, we will visit schools to give booster shots to the students).

Talisay City Health has already vaccinated more than 1,000 children aged 12 and above. (BBT, TPT)
