Arnell Ignacio to head Owwa

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed former comedian/actor Arnell Ignacio (real name: Arnaldo Arevalo Ignacio) as the administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa), Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

Ignacio, currently an Owwa deputy administrator, will replace administrator Hans Leo Cacdac.

Appointed as Owwa deputy administrators were Mary Melanie Quiño in replacement of Ignacio and Emma Sinclair, who will take the place of Ryan Vincent Uy.

Angeles said Cacdac was transferred to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) as an undersecretary on Welfare and Foreign Employment.

Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) administrator Bernard Olalia was also appointed as undersecretary for Licensing and Adjudication of the DMW, while Venecio Legaspi, a former overseas Filipino worker, has been assigned as the assistant secretary for Reintegration.

"He will be the OIC of POEA until such time that the department is deemed fully constituted on the approval of the 2023 budget," Cruz-Angeles said. (SunStar Philippines)
