Dismissal of protest vs Pineda 'proof' of clean polls

THE dismissal of the election protest against second-termer Governor Dennis Pineda is a "proof of a clean and honest conduct of the recent election."

This was according to League of Mayors of the Philippines-Pampanga Chapter Secretary General and Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque.

Maglanque said the results of the May 2022 polls where Pineda won by 194,634 votes against his lone rival Danilo Baylon is an echo of the voice of Kapampangan people.

“Nagdesisyon ang karamihan ng Kapampangan at ibinoto nila si Governor Pineda para mamuno ulit sa probinsyang Kapampangan kaya pakinggan natin ang boses ng ating mga kabalen,” he said.

Maglanque urged his townmate Baylon to respect electoral process and the choice of Kapampangans.

He disclosed that Baylon and his wife Aniway Baylon also filed an electoral protest against him when he defeated them in the Candaba mayoral race in 2019 and 2022, respectively.

Both cases were also already dismissed at the Regional Trial Court.

“Lumalahok tayo sa eleksyon, dapat irespeto natin kung ano ang magiging resulta nito. Ito ang boses ng tao na gusto natin pagsilbihan kaya dapat igalang natin,” Maglanque said.

He urged Baylon to fulfill his promise of serving Kampangans by uniting with the local and provincial government, or through his personal capacity.

“Katulad ng parati kong sinasabi sa mga Candabeño, kakampi ko man o hindi, magkaisa na tayo para pagsilbihan ang mga tao at paunlarin ang ating bayan,” he said.
