ORGANIZERS of Pasigarbo sa Sugbo festival showdown are planning to shut down cell phone signals along the vicinity of Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), where the activity will be held on August 28, 2022, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia announced on Tuesday, August 9, at the Capitol Social Hall.

The Capitol is also contemplating of installing signal jammers inside the CCSC as part of its security measures, just like what the Cebu City Government did during the Sinulog festival.

“We will have to jam the signal within the Abellana grounds because it’s possible we might have VVIPs (very very important persons) around,” Garcia said.

The presentation will be broadcast live online through the Sugbo News portal.

Garcia explained that putting up signal jammers at the CCSC would also enable the Cebuanos and other viewers to watch the event on livestream.

The online presentation will also give viewers the chance to vote for their favorite contingents.

"This time, we thought that we would level the playing field to give everybody the chance, whether or not you already have a track record of performance," said Garcia.

In order to entice more Cebuanos to join in online voting, the governor announced that a grand prize of brand new car will be awarded to the winning voter.

Participants need to watch all five segments of the show and be able to vote for each segment.

A quick response (QR) code that will be displayed on the livestream will guide viewers how to vote.

The voter who selects the winning contingent will be given the chance to participate in the raffle.

Around 50 local government units in Cebu are expected to join the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo this year in line with the month-long celebration of the 453rd founding anniversary of the province of Cebu. (ANV, TPT)
