THE tricycle driver who was involved in a traffic accident that led to the death of a university security guard in Barangay Alijis,Bacolod City earlier this week was released from detention after posting bail Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

Captain Elmer Bonilla, commander of Police Station 7, said they released John Dayday, 23, of the barangay’s Purok Malapitan who posted P30,000 in bail.

Dayday is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property along with Warren Blance, 42, of the city’s Barangay Pahanocoy.

After he posted bail, Bonilla said, Dayday will need to wait for the schedule of the hearing of the case.

Louie Vergara, 41, of Purok Ezekiel in the city’s Barangay Handumanan was driving his motorcycle on his way to work at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos when the tricycle of Dayday hit him around 5 a.m. Monday.

As a result, Vergara was thrown off from his motorcycle and was run over by the approaching multicab of Blance.

Bonilla said Blance was also released on Monday evening after the City Prosecutor’s Office granted his motion for preliminary investigation so that he could explain within 10 days why he should not be held liable for the death of Vegara.

Blance presented the footage captured by his dashboard camera showing that Vergara was thrown off from his motorcycle before his vehicle ran over the latter.
