THE city government of Davao will implement a weekend rollout for the Covid-19 vaccination every Saturday for the rest of the month, beginning this August 13, 2022.

Davao City Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said on August 10, the rollout will be held at People’s Park Davao. It will continue during the succeeding Saturdays on August 20 and 27.

“It will be held at People’s Park para accessible siya sa tanan (so it’s accessible to everyone),” she said during a radio interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio.

Dr. Zamzam Zailan of the Davao City Vaccination cluster said on Thursday, August 11 that this rollout will administer all doses for five years old and above. Primary doses are available for the five to 11 age group and for the 12 to 17 age group, primary and first booster doses for minors without comorbidities are available.

For those 18 years old and above, all doses are available as well including first two primary doses, and the first and second booster.

“Based sa among datos kadtong nag-open tag vaccination sa People’s Park kadtong last day July 30, naa tay 1,125 na nabakunahan (Based on our data during the previous vaccination at People’s Park, we administered 1,125 during the last day on July 30). Hopefully, we expect the same numbers again and everyone can have their protection against severe Covid-19 cases,” Zailan said.

Zailan said the Saturday vaccination is open to everyone, even to Davao outsiders visiting the city for the Kadayawan festival. However, he said vaccination is not required for spectators to participate in Kadayawan Festival activities.

Schlosser and Zailan hope the Saturday vaccination will continue even after the month of August but said that no final discussion has been made yet.

As of August 11, the vaccination in the three congressional district of Davao City have made significant numbers since the start of their operations on (date).

For the period of August 1 to 5, a total of 3,853 were vaccinated in the first district, 1,692 in the second district, and 1,448 in the third district.

In total, 17,246 are vaccinated in the first district, 10,080 in the second district, and 7,490 in the third district.

Schlosser said this may further increase soon since the mobile vaccination initiative of Davao City councilors per district and barangays has begun.

“Humana ang re-orientation and training of our councilors and their medical team. Naa na sila clearance na mag conduct og mobile vaccination (The councilors and their medical teams are done with the re-orientation and training. They have the clearance to conduct the mobile vaccination),” she said. ICM
