P10M worth of shabu seized from 18-year-old in Mandaue City

MORE than a kilo of suspected shabu was seized from an 18-year-old man during a raid conducted by operatives of the Mandaue City Police Station 4 at dawn Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022.

The illegal drugs are worth around P10.2 million, based on the standard drug price.

It was the biggest haul in the city since Mandaue City Police Office Director Col. Jeffrey Caballes took office.

Capt. Armil Caloscos, chief of Police Station 4, identified the suspect as John Alex Villaraza. Villaraza, who reportedly works for a known drug personality, is a resident of Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

The anti-illegal drugs operation took place around 1:30 am. along M.L. Quezon Ave. in Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City.

According to Caloscos, they’ve been monitoring the suspect for a month. He said it took them a week to convince Villaraza to sell them 100 grams of shabu.

Police described Villaraza as a regional high-value individual because of the illegal drugs recovered from him.

Caloscos said they continue to grill Villaraza for information about the latter’s employer.

In another anti-illegal drug operation, operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Cebu Provincial Police Office arrested 37-year-old Jessica Estrella Espra in Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City.

Seized from the suspect was P340,000 worth of shabu, based on the standard drug price.

The raid was led by Lt. Christopher Torregosa. (BBT)
