2 bodies discovered; police rule out foul play

TWO bodies were discovered in different parts of Cebu City on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

Around 3 p.m., operatives of the Mabolo Police Station responded to an alarm that a body of a dead man was found on 1528 Lower Torralba Street in Barangay Apas.

Based on the initial investigation of Patrolman Alvic Salimbot, the body belonged to 45-year-old Francisco Dela Cerna, who was renting a room in the area.

The other tenants in his boardinghouse noticed a foul smell and reported it to police.

When police opened his room, Dela Cerna’s body was already in a state of decomposition.

Police believed he died of natural causes and ruled out foul play.

A few hours later, operatives of the Carbon Police Station received a call from the Unit 2 building at the Carbon Public Market in Barangy Ermita.

Corporal Jan Reynald Oporto said they found the dead body of Mary Lou Jatutillo Buanhug inside her room in Sitio Pig-Vendor in the same barangay.

He said the victim originally hailed from Angeles, Pampanga.

According to Oporto’s initial investigation, Buanhug was last seen alive on Friday, Aug. 12. A concerned neighbor had bought food for her, but the latter didn’t have an appetite, he said.

When the medical team examined Buanhug, she was already dead and her body was in a state of rigor mortis.

Oporto said they ruled out foul play. (BBT)
