Members of the Team KD Black Knights from Bago City and San Enrique town Negros Occidental reaped medals at the 7th Donnie Geisler Taekwondo Championships at the Colegio San Agustin Sports Complex in Makati City on Friday, August 13.
San Enrique Councilor Kirk Steven Debulgado, who is also the founder of the town’s taekwondo club, told the SunStar Bacolod that the team competed with various participants from different provinces in the country.
After the stiff competition, Edjelyn Latido won a gold medal at the poomsae event, or the exhibition of various fundamental stances, blocks, punches and kicks while her teammates Blezy Ashirah Jucal and Dan Emmanuel Real took home silver medals.
Their teammate Chris Andrei Flores, meanwhile, settled for a bronze medal for the event.
Aside from winning a silver medal for poomsae, Real also got two gold medals for the Kyorugi or the taekwondo sparring competition.
Latido, Jucal and Flores along with John Lester Rio, Sid Zean Noble and Yssa Angeli Tambanillo also won gold medals while Hezekiah Berniece Doctora got a silver medal for a similar event.
In May this year, the members of the San Enrqiue Taekwondo Club reaped medals during the first Baguio Open Taekwondo Championship held on May 21.
