A FARMER died during a beach outing in Barangay Tajao, Pinamungajan, Cebu on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Executive Master Sergeant Peter Cuanso, chief investigator of the Pinamungajan Police Station, identified the victim as Renario Abiso of Purok Mahogany, Barangay Punod, Pinamungajan.
Cuanso said the incident happened around 12:30 p.m., but it was only reported to the station at 1:20 p.m.
According to Gena Mazo, Abiso’s niece, her uncle was sitting on the shore while they were unloading things from the car.
Then they heard shouts that someone was drowning.
Mazo said she couldn’t believe that the unconscious man members of the Local Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office emergency team fished out of the water was her uncle.
Abiso was rushed to the Pinamungajan District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Teresita Bocado.
Abiso’s death was ruled as an accident, as police believed no foul play was involved. (GDC, PJB)
