Lacson: Our Tagaytay Weekend and what it taught me

Indeed, my much-needed respite from the busy work came true last weekend as my family spent the weekend in Tagaytay City. It was in 2013 or exactly nine years ago since my family went to this relaxing place and although we got scammed when we tried to book accommodation in the Tagaytay Wind Residences we pushed through with this trip in celebration of my youngest sister's birthday. I tried searching for good deals using Agoda, and one of the places in Tagaytay which received good reviews is the La Bella Boutique Hotel and Residences. The place has a comforting ambiance with its surrounding trees and Santorini-like building design. While the hotel amenities were not really new, still we enjoyed our stay there.

However, what made our Tagaytay trip memorable is our fun time at Sky Ranch. It feels good to have my kids a bit older now as compared to the first time that they visited Tagaytay when they were merely one year old and months old respectively. Nine years after, they are now able to enjoy on their own the rides that we tried such as the Sky Eye, Mini Viking, Carousel, Express Train, Log Coaster, and Toy Swing. Nothing can certainly equate to the joy of seeing your children have a good time.

This experience made me realize the following things: first, despite all the hardships that my family may have gone through before, we are still blessed beyond measure for being given the time and resources to visit Tagaytay and enjoy what it has to offer for family tourists like us. Making memories and visiting different places with your family is way more important than any amount of money. As parents, we are working hard to give them what they need and at the same time, have extra money to enjoy vacations and out-of-town trips such as this.

Second, it is nice to really visit and enjoy local tourist spots within our country and support the local businesses and help them thrive especially after being hit by the pandemic. We had dinner in the famous restaurants owned by couple Chito and Neri Miranda and I must say their food is good. Add the ambiance and perfect view of the restaurant, and we definitely had a good time dining out at Jaytee's Perfect View Restaurant in Tagaytay City.

Lastly, I realized that the time that we have now with our kids must be maximized because as they say, no one is getting any younger. While I age gradually, so do these kids, and there comes a time when they will explore on their own and might not enjoy our company more often. So as they say, enjoy it while it lasts. Nevertheless, I still hope and pray that my kids will never get tired or bored of hanging out with us because it is much more fun to experience new adventures with them. I also pray that they will cherish all these fond memories we shared together and always prompt them to be happy and good people always.
